Forbes estimates Trump’s net worth to be $3.7 billion, making him the 485th-richest person in the world according to our real time billionaire ranks. In October, he appeared at number 156 on The Forbes 400 ranking of the wealthiest Americans -- his 29th time on the list.
He and his father, Fred Trump, made the first-ever Forbes 400 in 1982 with a shared fortune of $200 million. Since then Trump has been uniquely fixated on his net worth estimate and has consistently lobbied for a higher spot on Forbes’ rankings. "I'm worth much more than you have me down [for],” Trump told Forbes magazine editor Randall Lane in an interview for a September 2015 cover story. “I don't look good, to be honest. I mean, I look better if I'm worth $10 billion than if I'm worth $4 billion."
Wednesday’s announcement appears to ensure that Trump will remain among the billionaire ranks. Forbes estimates that Trump holds nearly $3.3 billion in real estate, including $300 million worth of golf courses in the U.S., Scotland and Ireland; $230 million in cash and liquid assets; $35 million worth of planes and helicopters; and businesses worth $137 million that manage hotels not owned by Trump and license the Trump name to buildings and products like ties, coffee and water.
When asked whether the announcement will affect Trump's place on Forbes' rankings, Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks replied, "You rarely rank Mr. Trump and his incredible assets properly."
